Anchor Deborah Norville Is Leaving ‘Inside Edition’ After 30 Years — Her Explanation

A major change is ahead for one of television’s longest-running news shows — and as one familiar face prepares to exit, viewers are bracing for what’s next.
After three decades as anchor of “Inside Edition,” Deborah Norville has announced her departure from the show. The on-air statement came during the April 2 broadcast and signals a significant change for the long-running syndicated program.
“It has been such an honor and privilege to be here at Inside Edition for all these years,” she said. “A milestone like this is a time for reflection, and on reflection, I have decided that now is the time to move on from ‘Inside Edition.'”
The show reportedly gave Norville a “lovely offer” to stay, but she chose to leave, calling it the right time for change. Social media users reacted quickly to the news, particularly expressing concern over a possible successor.
“oh no!!!!! please don’t have Mary Calvi fill her spot permanently!!!!! get someone better [sic],” one viewer wrote. “I saw this coming. Mary Calvi is on most of the time lately,” another commented. “Do not make Mary her replacement. She sounds so phony,” added a third.
These comments underscore uncertainty among some fans about the show’s future direction following Norville’s departure.
